Blog #5 Prokaryotes and Microorganisms

 I good type of prokaryote (which is bacteria) would be yeast. Yeast is a good fungi. It's not harmful at all. It is used for baking, and for making alcoholic beverages. The way it helps humans is that it provides food for us. So most likely it isn't harmful at all since they use it in food daily and in beverages too.

 Now a harmful bacteria would be Streptococcus. It can cause infections like strep throat. Sometimes even a serious diseases like pneumonia. At times Streptococcus and be fatal.

Blog #6 The Hot Zone Poem

The horrible pain the man had to go through, no words to describe
    He never knew what was coming next
    Every moment he spent on that plane, he was dying rapidly
    He didn't even know what to think, there was no time to think
    Only he would know something was wrong with him, but he stood calm
    The only thing he could think of was if he was going to die
    Zombie, would be the word to describe the way he looked
    On the other hand, there was no way that he would be able to survive a fast spreading virus
    No one on the plane would have thought that the virus would get to them, eventually
    Everything he went through.......there is no way to describe

Blog #4 Planet "Goldilocks"

So doing some research today I saw on Science: NPR that scientists discovered a new planet called, Goldilocks. For a really long time, us people have been speculating if there could be a planet out there that we could live on, or at least have something as close to our planet. Goldilocks isn't that far away, compared to other planets, its only 20 light years away . Scientists are saying that Goldilocks is the perfect temperature, since it isn't to far or to close to the sun. Not only is it good temperature, but it is at the "right distance for water", and has enough "mass that it could hold onto the atmosphere." So do you believe that in the future, people would be able to live on Goldilocks???

Blog #3 Non Carbon Life Forms???

Well, i do not believe that there are life forms, that are not made up of carbon. We were taught that everything that is living is made up of carbon. Carbon is a big part of a living thing, without it they would not be here. For example we are living, and our body is made up of carbon. Same goes for animals, so i do not believe that there is a living thing out there that is non carbon based, it's just not possible.

Blog #2 Metric System

Well as some of us know, NASA made a rocket, but the rocket was not successful. People say that the reason for this was because scientists were not using the same measurements for the parts. I believe that the U.S. should switch to the metric system. This would make things a lot more easier for anyone to use, and there would be no confusion for measurements. Also if we use the metric system, everyone would know what measurements to use, instead of having a group of people using the correct measurements, and the other group of people using the wrong measurements. In my opinion, the U.S. should use the metric system.

Blog #1 Goals

So my name is Emma, and i think i have a lot of goals this year, the reason for that is to just have the best year. I think my first goal for this year in this class overall, is to just pass with a grade that I'll be proud of, and that my parents will be proud of too. Also for this biology class, I want to try an participate in class as well. For the entire school year i think that i should at least try to maintain a B or higher in all my classes. Also trying to join a lot of clubs, especially Artist Anonymous, or probably even start a new club. Hopefully these goals will help me have a great school year.
